Get Out and Vote!

I am hoping all the Cabot Witches and the world of Witches in the United States will get out and vote!

Our one vote really counts; these politicians would not be spending millions of dollars on advertising if they didn’t understand that without our vote and participation, they wouldn’t have a chance.  Your vote counts!

I personally am voting democrat because women rights are being threatened once again by the republican candidates.

It is so sad and shocking that anyone would want to jeopardize women’s health and if men were only making 60 cents on a dollar they would understand what women are going through without that 40 cents more that they need and deserve.  Women dropped the ball when the republicans stopped the bills that would have given women equal rights and equal pay for equal work.

This is a democratic government; let’s let the democrats run it.  Did you know that Bill Clinton balanced the budget while he was in office and he is working hand in hand with President Obama?
The mess in this country is in was caused by the republicans.  President Obama has done a great job in four years.  No president could have undone what has been done by the republicans to cause a recession, but he has turned things around and we’re on the climb to success, we can’t change hands in the middle of this progress.

Get that Goddess in you, get her in warrior mode and vote!  I will be voting for Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren.

Our Needs

As your High Priestess and Founder of the Cabot Tradition and The Cabot-Kent Hermetic Temple, I am in touch with, sometimes, five hundred people of our clan on any given day with issues of study, behavior, personal and spiritual needs.  I am always there for our people.  When a matter arises it is best to contact me, however if I do not get back to you immediately, please be patient.  Others in our community may have more pressing issues and I must attend to the most immediate problem or need.  Your consideration is welcomed.  I have to focus on the most important needs of our tradition, it is my Job.

Blessings,

Journeying Forward

My dear friends,

About 42 years ago I opened the first Witch shop in America in the small town of Salem Massachusetts. When I first arrived in Salem it was a sleepy little town with a disturbing history, today Salem is a thriving city that hustles and bustles and overloads during the fall season with all the wonderful October events. Those many years ago when I opened my shop I had distinct goa...ls: to be able to care for my children, support myself and family financially and educate the world about Witchcraft while living my life as a Witch. As you can probably imagine living as a Witch and not hiding who you are while owning a Witch shop in 1970 was no easy task, but we kept our heads high and marched forward looking to educate the world and receive equal rights and protection. Several years after I opened my shop I was honored with the title ‘Official Witch of Salem,’ bestowed upon me by then governor Michael Dukakis, a title which I have worked my life to ensure that I met, to educate, to guide, to help and to heal.

Here I sit now, reflecting on my life as a Witch, my goals, challenges and successes both in the past and what will be in the future. My goals have changed, my focus must now change to meet those goals and it is to that end that I have decided to gear my focus to our temple, the first ever temple of Witchcraft in Salem, the Cabot Kent Hermetic Temple, what an event! In 1692 people in Salem township were killed in the name of Witchcraft, murdered when there is no evidence to support they were even Witches or knew what Witches were, and now today we have founded our temple in its place! We are working to replace fear and hate with hope, love and majick. My goal is to is to see this temple flourish, I want to see us have a building, a real place where anyone can come and learn about Witchcraft, the science, the art and the religion. A place where you can learn about your Celtic ancestors, our Gods and Goddesses, where we can use majick and cast spells to heal the world.

As you can imagine running a store and trying to be available to the temple is a lot of work, and so I have decided to align myself with my new goals and close my store, The Official Witch Shoppe. I will continue to offer all of my products (and some new specialties) through the online store operated by On-Line New England which is owned by friends and students of mine, they have added all of my products to their already large selection of inventory (and also they also ship WORLDWIDE!). You can find their full inventory and my products by visiting their store through the Online Shopping button on The Official Witch Shoppe website (www.TheOfficialWitchShoppe.com) or through my own site, www.LaurieCabot.com.

Closing my store was a very difficult decision but one that I am pleased with. For the past 42 years I have been very involved with the operations of all of my stores, from the first, The Witch Shoppe to Crow Haven Corner and then The Cat, The Crow and The Crown and finally to The Official Witch Shoppe. It has been a dream come true to have had the experience of operating my stores and the countless wonderful people I have met and interacted with at each of my shop locations.

I will continue to teach; my classes on Witchcraft and Tarot are still very much available as are my physic readings and workshops. The shops phone number will remain the same and continue to operate for more information on classes, workshops and readings as well as online at the shops website which will continue to operate, more information will be provided should the fate of that site change.

As of right now I am planning a book signing at the shop on Saturday, January 21th and the final day of operation is planned for Tuesday, January 31st. I would like to invite you to check our website in case any changes to the dates should occur.

I would like to thank all of you for the many many years of support and love. Without you the shops would not have been a success and Witchcraft may still be something misunderstood and feared.

I wish all of you many blessings.

Spiritual Needs

Your spiritual needs and happiness are as important as your material needs.  Taking time to speak to the God & Goddess is a daily ritual for me and I know you can do the same; it only takes two minutes every morning.  I don’t always have time to light a candle, so I sit quietly and call the names of the Gods or Goddesses that I know will help me.  Having a good relationship with your deities will comfort and nurture you.  Their loving energy can help you to get through the day with safety, joy and hope!

Our dreams are heard by the Gods.  We in turn must never give up our dreams no matter what obstacles are seemingly in our way.  Remember your Majick is powerful!!

I wish you Blessings of Health and Happiness!

Christmas time, a long time ago in the 1940’s

This time of year are rushes of memories!  What stimulates these memories often is the Hallmark channel; I’ve been watching all their seasonal stories.
My mother always surprised me with Santa gifts that only a mother could make.  There was always a doll or something I wanted at the time and every year under the tree was beautiful doll clothes she made.  Once it was an entire wardrobe for my doll, Polly.  Each dress was trimmed in lace or tatting, handmade by my mom.
I don’t always think of the Betsy Wetsy doll, but I do remember the beautiful things my mother made for that doll.
And of course the Lemon Meringue and Chocolate Meringue pies, the big brown steaming turkey, her wonderful dressing and the cranberry sauce she made.
The tree was lit with large light bulbs, some were Santa faces, and she hung tinsel one strand at a time.
It was so cozy to sit looking at the tree the night before Christmas, drinking hot chocolate and wondering what Santa would bring.  The glow of the fireplace and sparkling color of the tree was majickal!
When it was time for bed, I would kiss dad good night as he laid down his pipe and mother would tuck me in the warm covers.  Dad always put hay on the porch for the reindeer to eat and mom placed the cookies and milk for Santa.
I awoke in the morning to the aroma of pancakes, eggs and bacon, but I ran passed the kitchen to the tree always happy and excited for all the wonderful gifts, but mostly I loved the unexpected gifts my mother made.

The Yule Celebration

The Yule celebration was beautiful and fun.  Lots of toys were brought to give to the Salem Children’s hospital.  The hospital relies on the Cabot Witches to help them every year since 1975.

I have to say the food was great, meatballs and pasta and much more comfort food.  The door was dazzling, glittering frosted snowflakes sparkled all over the room and our tree was spectacular.

Ritual was so fulfilling it brought new hope for the coming winter.  Children played and our Cabot family enjoyed each other’s company on the cold winter night.

The candle light reminds us the warmth is coming, the sun will return.

Blessings,

Reverend Laurie Cabot HPs

Establishing our Spiritual Integrity

There are days I look upon my image in the mirror and ask “what are you doing with your life?”  I have worked most of my life so that Witches could conquer the “Witch History” of Salem, MA by establishing the true and great path and way of our ancestors, the Witches of Europe.  Has that yet come to be?  Not quite!  Yes, I have established the first federally recognized With Temple in the history of Salem, MA, however we have a great distance to go.

There needs to be a physical place, a building, so that Witches of the World can pilgrimage to reclaim our way of life with dignity, showing that our good actions touched history.  This power force brings light to the world and peaceful transformation.  A place where we can dance with the Gods and Goddess’, a sacred place where we hug, drum, sing and perform ritual; a place to create music, inspire our majick, to communicate with the other worlds, to reenact and recover the passion of our ancestors.  A place to meditate and encounter the holy; a place to be empowered, to give our lives a noble cause.

The very acts of ministry by our priests and priestesses, counseling and performing liturgy ritual, where we sustain civil society.  The Temple doors are open to all our special pagan friends

Our place, where we touch the divine.
